Artist's
Statement
" During the last years of my HND, I based my work on sacred
imagery. My inspiration comes from the
study of religious icons. The textures and distressing, also the
metallic surfaces found within the icons
are incorporated within my work. These are sometimes fused with
other sacred images e.g. standing stones (Stonehenge), and also
idols to give an iconic representation. All my work is produced
in encaustic,
which is a wax and oil or acrylic paint together with metallic powders,
which are fused using heat.
An integral part of my art also includes the depiction of angels
and archangels,
which are also included in my research."
