Artist's
Statement
"By moving paint on canvas I try to create images which
explore the relationship between flux and control, and which pursue
my fascination with the elements - both within or world and beyond.
The resulting images suggest tranquil and turbulent skies - ethereal,
sensual places from abstract to oceans to nebular works with the
potential of infinite space. These paintings become my meditative
world of marks, colour, light and atmosphere. I am also exploring
the fusing of my paintings with another, still current, line of
work - canvasses hand-sewn from scraps - creating new, hybrid series
of images on scarred & tension filled yet evocative surfaces."

Other Art Related Work
ART WORKSHOPS: Suffolk County Council Day Care Centre, Saxmundham,
Suffolk. Another area of interest is the field of Art Therapy, which
I believe much of my work relates, to - both in the process of their
making and in the finished product. The arts can improve the quality
of healthcare and aid recovery from illness. Art is also a positive
way for children or adults with learning difficulties and disabilities
to express themselves.
Anglia Television 'Wide world ' series: 'Art for Art's Sake' originally
shown on channel 5 November 3 1997. "I attempt to demonstrate
some of the techniques used by Jackson Pollock's Marlow (Art Critic
and Editor of ''Tate Magazine') talks about the history and meaning
of Pollock's work".
Public talk and slide presentation with several other artists supporting
the campaign - 'Voices Against Violence' at Cinema City, Norwich,
Norfolk, December 1997.
Current Projects
My most recent work in New Zealand linked the ever-changing elements
with my personal feelings and how moods can change in much the same
way. I am also exploring the fusing of my paintings with another,
stilt current, line of work - canvases hand - sewn from scraps.
I am looking forward to possibly creating new, hybrid, series of
images on scarred and tension filled, yet evocative, surface.
