About
the Artist
Sue studied art in London and Nantes University before pursuing
a career in the City of London and returned
to painting in the 80's after moving to the country with her family.
She now lives in the Cambridge area.
Artist's
Statement
Bright colours and strong patterns are a feature of Sue's paintings
which are semi-abstract or abstract and she uses acrylic, oil, pastel
and watercolour. Sue enjoys experimenting and pushing the boundaries
of her work. She finds that switching media helps to keep the work
fresh and retains the excitement of discovering new techniques and
new ways of representing favourite themes such as field patterns,
tree studies and Mediterranean scenes. Sue is interested in texture
so she often incorporates tissue paper, powdered graphite, threads,
card or even tea leaves into the pictures. At the moment she is
exploring collagraph printmaking.

the complex rhythms, texture and colour harmonies of nature. Her
inspiration comes from the gently rolling hills of her local landscape
